MGS Remastered and Uncharted beta

All this time I’ve been thinking it’s just Peacewalker receiving the HD treatment as it migrates from PSP to PS3…I had no idea that three titles were being packaged and sold as one like they’re doing with God of War!! Three titles, MGS2: Sons of Liberty, MGS3: Snake Eater and Peacewalker all in one package…and releasing in November and in HD?? ย Marvellous!! Oh and the Uncharted multiplayer beta is pretty sweet, if you haven’t downloaded it and taken advantage of the free upgrade to PS+ status for one month, then download it now…it’s completely worth it ๐Ÿ™‚

Would the real Kevin Pereira/Nathan Drake please stand up?

I previously posted this at the bottom of another post and figured that maybe not too many people saw it ๐Ÿ™‚ But I personally think that Attack of the Show host, Kevin Pereira shares a striking resemblance to the hero of the Uncharted franchise on the PS3, Nathan Drake. Pics below. There’s a poll as well to vote on!

Now you, is Kevin Pereira Nathan Drake in disguise??

Some more gaming goodness :)

E3 is nearly done for this year and I just wanted to post some things that made my day and I’m looking forward to in the coming year, First of all, the big one Wii U, I really can’t wait til Nintendo start doing roadshows with this bad boy like they did with the Wii in 2006. I’ll be surprised if this isn’t the case as this is clearly yet another revolutionary console implementing a unique control system much as the Wii changed the market 5 years ago.

The other hot system revealed by Sony was the handheld formerly known as the NGP, which now has the final name of the PS Vita, Vita being Life in Latin. There were some incredible videos revealed for the Vita with Uncharted: Golden Abyss being a massive standout. Of particular importance was the US price revealed for the WiFi model which was $249.99. This is the same price that the 3DS costs in the US and the 3DS ended up costing $349.95AU. This hopefully means that Vita will follow the same pricing format and place it on even footing, price wise, with the Nintendo 3DS. The 3G & WiFi model was priced at $399.99US. Vid below showing the Vita’s capabilities and below that an Uncharted: Golden Abyss video…droolworthy ๐Ÿ™‚

I managed to shift some EB store credit around and snagged the Zelda Collector’s Edition of the 3D remake of the Ocarina of Time for the 3DS which looks like this…

To see the awesome celebrations that Nintendo are doing to celebrate Zelda’s 25th anniversary, check out part 1 of the Nintendo E3 conference available HERE.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is shaping up to be another sublime outing in the Uncharted canon, just check out the trailer below.

And lastly, just a great compilation video showcasing the games on Vita.

P.S. Anyone else think Uncharted’s Nathan Drake and Kevin Pereira from Attack of the Show share a striking similarity??

It’s uncanny!!

Kojima and “transfarring”

Cool video that explains the recent term coined by Metal Gear Solid creator, Hideo Kojima, to explain how a saved Peacewalker file can be “transfarred” to your PSP to continue on the go and then “transfar” your save game back to the PS3 so you can continue at home. This will be implemented for the new Metal Gear HD when it hits the PS3. Transfarring…hmm…

E3 Prologue

The mecca that is E3 or the Electronics Entertainment Expo, for the uninitiated, descends upon Los Angeles next week and with it, a whole bevvy of news and exciting announcements. What am I expecting to hear? I’m so glad you asked!

Well for a start, Nintendo will no doubt be showing off the Wii successor, Nintendo Stream or Project Cafe as is the working title. Supposedly more powerful than a PS3, this will mark Nintendo’s first foray into the HD arena whereas in the past they seemed to be mainly focused on entertainment fot the casual gamer without really catering for the hardcore. Not to say that their games are shite, far from it, but at the same time they’ve left the true hardcore in the lurch. I’m hoping Project Cafe will change all that with it’s powerful new hardware specs and the rumoured controller that will also have a screen built into it as well as the ability to stream content from the console to the controller. How this will be utilised will hopefully be shown at E3.

Now while the 3DS is enjoying moderate success, it hasn’t been the true runaway that Nintendo had hoped for as seen with the Gameboy and the DS. Obviously the mediocre launch titles would have had a lot to do with that. But with better AAA titles such as Pilotwings Resort and more recently, Dead or Alive: Dimensions being released and Zelda, Resident Evil: Mercenaries on the horizon, hopefully the tide will turn for the 3DS as it really is a unique device that will hopefully bring more gamers to it. Maybe a snippet or two of Metal Gear Solid, Mario Kart and the latest Mario title wouldn’t go astray either!

Microsoft I couldn’t care less about or maybe I could…either way, skip them and move onto the PS3.

I really hope there’s more announcements regarding the collection of PSP games that are receiving the HD treatment and then being re-released onto the PS3. We know that Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is the first game to receive the conversion, fingers crossed it receives a translation and comes to both PSP and the PS3 in Australia.

Grand Theft Auto V is long overdue so fingers crossed we’ll see Niko Belic make a comeback or hell, any announcement regarding the GTA universe is more than welcome. After smashing through God of War III, we can only hope that God of War IV makes an appearance or at the very least confirmation that it is coming. Another game that’s screaming for a remake with improved graphics and HD visuals is Final Fantasy VII, we’ve been hearing rumours for a few years now that this game was going to be remade…E3 2011 seems the ideal time to make such a dream a reality ๐Ÿ™‚ Probably we can expect to hear a lot more about Move for PS3 which to be honest doesn’t interest me on the slightest probably for the same reason that Kinect doesn’t do it for on 360…I can’t be stuffed moving furniture out of the way to play games…it is a couch sport after all! No doubt there’ll also be a public apology for the recent PSN debacle but actions speak louder than words so we’ll see when the Store will be back up and running. And of course the big elephant in the room, the NGP or Next Generation Portable or PSP2 or whatever you want to call it. I’ll be expecting final spec and price, if not for US and Australia, for Japan at least along with a whole bunch of demos and launch titles showcased as well as the all important release date.

Well I think I’ve rambled on for long enough so I’ll leave it at that for now…E3 is still one week away and I’ll be watching the Nintendo conference live…I don’t think I’ll make the Sony one though. Either way, we’ll see what happens!! ๐Ÿ™‚
