Mercenaries has a date!!

Only the other day I was at EB in the city asking about a release date for Resident Evil Mercenaries to which the sales guy shrugged his shoulders. I was browsing the EB site, checking the 3DS section when I came across this tidbit of information…Mercenaries has a release date of 7th of July!!! This is awesome, the stream of AAA titles for the 3DS will hopefully continue with this one and see us through until Mario Kart, the new Mario game, Resident Evil Revelations and Snake Eater 3D are released!

Surprise limited edition!

Thank you to the kind people at the Classification Operations Branch for pulling Dead or Alive: Dimensions from store shelves for the following reason, and yes I’m quoting:

When Nintendo Australia agreed to distribute the Dead or Alive: Dimensions game in Australia, it had already been submitted for classification by another video game company. It was classified PG (Parental Guidance) by the Classification Operations Branch. Nintendo Australia did not submit the classification.

The original application did not provide adequate information regarding the contents of the game.

Nintendo Australia is currently working with the Classification Operations Branch on this.

I was lucky enough to obtain this title on day one and therefore now have a limited edition of this title as no doubt the game will be re-released with an amended rating. Apparently the issue is all due to a couple of things, first off is the photo mode where you can pose the fighters and then literally position the virtual camera anywhere you like. Now the other issue is that three of the female fighters have their ages listed as N/A which means that they could theoretically be underage. Is anyone else starting to see the issue here? They, the Board, believe that upskirt shots of the fighters could be deemed as “child pornography”? And I use the term lightly because the fighters are animated after all and not based on anyone living. But I guess they have to justify their pay packets to kick up a stink over this one. I, for one, didn’t even know that this was possible…I wonder if I was alone on this one? Hmm…my now limited edition is below 🙂

Nintendo E3 conference part 3

Great 3DS showcase in part 3 covering Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Driver Renegade, Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions, Tekken 3D & Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D. He then talked about the eShop and the different titles available from DSiWare to Virtual Console and finally unleashed Project Cafe or as the world knows it now, Wii U. The revolutionary new controller was shown as well as the ability to stream content from the tv to the controller and back again!

Nintendo E3 conference part 2

Part 2 dealt mainly with 3DS announcements and the usual suspects, Mario Kart, Star Fox, new Mario game, Kid Icarus and Luigi’s Mansion 2. Reggie then came out and spoke about Mario Kart footage which looked mint! Footage of the other games followed which allowed amazing especially the new Mario game 🙂 Kid Icarus: Uprising is looking particularly tasty with some excellent flying scenes showcased as well as some AR card trickery.

Rants and raves :)

I’ve recently rediscovered my love for the band The White Stripes, in particular, their absolutely mindblowingly sublime cover version of Dusty Springfield’s, I just don’t know what to do with myself. For those that have come in late, I’ve included the vid below. It’s directed by Sofia Coppola and features Kate Moss looking great before all the drug issues…or maybe it was during? Who knows but she delivers a great turn in the video. The song itself is amazing though and deserves a few listens…will definitely be adding this one to my must buy list.

And on a sidenote, when the feck will the PSN store be back online??? It’s great that the network is back up and everyone’s fragging each other all over Black Ops, for those that haven’t lost interest in the whole COD franchise but to the rest of us, and by rest of us I mean me, that don’t go for that and just wanna hook up their psp with some new games, this is a disaster of unmitigated proportions!! (Have always wanted to use that phrase!) Supposedly by the end of this month 😦 All that has to happen now is the launch of the e-Shop for the Nintendo 3DS will be delayed as well and then I’ll go completely postal!! You heard it here it first anyways 🙂

Don’t say it don’t look amazing!!!

3DS eShop delayed :(

I was really really really looking forward to the Nintendo 3DS update, you know, the one that would have included the web browsing capability and more importantly, the eShop as I wanted to get my mitts on some classics that I should have played years ago but never did. And thanks to the 3DS I was finally going to get that opportunity…dismay central however as the update, which was due to hit the interwebs sometime in May, has now been confirmed as June 6 😦 I’ve literally been counting the days til we reached May and now that it’s here…it was all for naught 😦 For the handful of you out there who don’t know what an eShop is *clears throat and posts from IGN*, “The shopping interface is officially known as the “Nintendo eShop.” Similar to the current Wii Shopping Channel and DSi Shopping Channel, you’ll access this to make downloadable game purchases. As previously detailed, the shop will also offer demos and video downloads.”

One cool aspect that has been shown are the 3DS prepaid cards much like we have now for the Wii and the PSN (yes, the same one that has been offline for 22 days and counting).

At the moment these cards seem to be relegated to the US but no doubt these will show up on our shores after the eShop launch 🙂

So pencil that date in…June 6!!

More Resident Evil goodness…

First the awesome news of Dream Trigger coming to the 3DS now more better news in the form of Resident Evil Mercenaries. A new character has just been added but more importantly, it now has a release date, granted it’s a US date but the PAL regions won’t be far off 🙂 So first things first, the new character is Rebecca Chambers, who is a member of the STARS Bravo team. Rebecca first appeared in the original Resident Evil and along the way has played a cameo in some of the other titles.

Rebecca Chambers

Rebecca also made a welcome appearance in Resident Evil 5’s Mercenaries Gold Edition so it’s fitting that she’s managed to fit into the handheld version.

And a pretty cool trailer complete with gameplay, overacting and a bit of gore…why not?

And to round off this update, the release date that the lucky US gets it on is…June 28! And just when it couldn’t get any better, Mercenaries will be shipping with a demo for Resident Evil Revelations just to up the high expectancy metre through the roof!!
