Kanga Kanga Revealed!

So I’ve mentioned a few times now about my penchant for buying Japanese magazines and the only place I go to for them is a really cool store called Kanga Kanga in the city on Russell St. close to the Greater Union cinemas. I thought I’d go past and ask the owner, Taka-san, if I could take some snaps for the blog to which he kindly agreed so to him I say, “Arigatou gozaimasu!” Pics below of the shop and contact details will be below them. If in the city, drop in and say hi, friendly fellow with a smile for everyone and tons of magazines to choose from. From cars, games, idols, reference materials and more this shop has everything and he’s more than happy to order something in if he doesn’t stock it!

Japanese comedians + Tom Cruise = comedic gold!!

A bit old now but this is what happens when you cross Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz with some Japanese comedians who take a crash course in English and then interview them at the red carpet event in Japan for Knight and Day…hilarity ensues, watch the reactions of the stars and the comedians!!

WordPress doesn’t seem to like the embed code from Japan Probe and thus renders the link as above 😦 Give it a click…it is great!!

Otaku goodness and AKB48 shock!

First off, a big shout out to my extended Otaku “family”, Otaku Fuel. I received the excellent products to review in 6 days from the States, 6 days?!? Must have been sent on the new NBN (National Broadband Network). Then again…maybe not 🙂 Anyways, pics of the goodness as well as the ever important reviews will be forthcoming very soon 🙂 But in other news important to me today I found out that my favourite J-Pop girl group, AKB48 actually had a new member that wasn’t real! So what I mean is that they composited different features from other members to make one new member that existed only in a computer (probably Windoze) 😦 Vid below of how this was accomplished, the end result was actually very subtle and very well done. Under the vid, there’s a link to where you can make your own pop star…and don’t tell me the song in the background isn’t catchy as all hell!!

Ghost in the shell goodness!!

Just another, of the many hundred reasons, why I want to live in Japan either permanently or for a couple of years, earthquakes be damned!! Popular Japanese blogger, Danny Choo, has posted an awesome feature on the release of Ghost In The Shell: Solid State Society in Japanese theatres in 3D! The trailer below looks absolutely awesome but the best part is the Parco in Shibuya has an entire store dedicated to Ghost In The Shell paraphernalia…loads of goodies, artwork and merchandise for anime lovers and otakus everywhere! Unfortunately the store is temporary and will only be there until May 8th *tear* Yet another reason to be there right now!!! 🙂

Osaka Bang!!

Hilarious vid that I came across over on Kevin Pereira’s site (from Attack of the Show). Guy walks around Osaka fake shooting people and they actually react to it!! Then tries slicing and dicing with an invisible sword and yep, they’re falling all over the place!! If you don’t laugh, then check your funny bone cos this is good stuff!!!

Travelling to Japan?

Came across this site with a brief article that will no doubt remain updated with details on where it’s safe to travel in Japan…as long as you stay away from the Northern tip, you’ll do fine 🙂
