MGS Remastered and Uncharted beta

All this time I’ve been thinking it’s just Peacewalker receiving the HD treatment as it migrates from PSP to PS3…I had no idea that three titles were being packaged and sold as one like they’re doing with God of War!! Three titles, MGS2: Sons of Liberty, MGS3: Snake Eater and Peacewalker all in one package…and releasing in November and in HD??  Marvellous!! Oh and the Uncharted multiplayer beta is pretty sweet, if you haven’t downloaded it and taken advantage of the free upgrade to PS+ status for one month, then download it now…it’s completely worth it 🙂

Mercenaries has a date!!

Only the other day I was at EB in the city asking about a release date for Resident Evil Mercenaries to which the sales guy shrugged his shoulders. I was browsing the EB site, checking the 3DS section when I came across this tidbit of information…Mercenaries has a release date of 7th of July!!! This is awesome, the stream of AAA titles for the 3DS will hopefully continue with this one and see us through until Mario Kart, the new Mario game, Resident Evil Revelations and Snake Eater 3D are released!

Zelda HD – Wii U demonstration

Only because it looks completely gorgeous and lush, I’m showing the Zelda HD tech demo as shown by Peer from I can only hope that when the full Zelda game comes out on the Wii U, which is still ages away I should add as it hasn’t been announced yet, it will look this hawt. Check the demo, it truly presents Link with so much detail in real time that hasn’t been seen before 🙂

EB Games Expo on the Gold Coast

I wonder how popular the EB Games Expo will prove to be this coming October, it has my interest piqued and could be alright. The door prices seem reasonable as well bit not too sure about the VIP ticket, doesn’t seem like the extra cash may be worth it. The video below shows the partners they have lined up so far, all the big players will be present so there may be some cool demos to get your hands on and maybe some awesome swag, right? At the very least, it’ll be a fangasm of StreetPass action, no? I’ll wait to see if they release more vids as the date gets closer with hopefully more announcements and more exhibitors!

Surprise limited edition!

Thank you to the kind people at the Classification Operations Branch for pulling Dead or Alive: Dimensions from store shelves for the following reason, and yes I’m quoting:

When Nintendo Australia agreed to distribute the Dead or Alive: Dimensions game in Australia, it had already been submitted for classification by another video game company. It was classified PG (Parental Guidance) by the Classification Operations Branch. Nintendo Australia did not submit the classification.

The original application did not provide adequate information regarding the contents of the game.

Nintendo Australia is currently working with the Classification Operations Branch on this.

I was lucky enough to obtain this title on day one and therefore now have a limited edition of this title as no doubt the game will be re-released with an amended rating. Apparently the issue is all due to a couple of things, first off is the photo mode where you can pose the fighters and then literally position the virtual camera anywhere you like. Now the other issue is that three of the female fighters have their ages listed as N/A which means that they could theoretically be underage. Is anyone else starting to see the issue here? They, the Board, believe that upskirt shots of the fighters could be deemed as “child pornography”? And I use the term lightly because the fighters are animated after all and not based on anyone living. But I guess they have to justify their pay packets to kick up a stink over this one. I, for one, didn’t even know that this was possible…I wonder if I was alone on this one? Hmm…my now limited edition is below 🙂

Some more gaming goodness :)

E3 is nearly done for this year and I just wanted to post some things that made my day and I’m looking forward to in the coming year, First of all, the big one Wii U, I really can’t wait til Nintendo start doing roadshows with this bad boy like they did with the Wii in 2006. I’ll be surprised if this isn’t the case as this is clearly yet another revolutionary console implementing a unique control system much as the Wii changed the market 5 years ago.

The other hot system revealed by Sony was the handheld formerly known as the NGP, which now has the final name of the PS Vita, Vita being Life in Latin. There were some incredible videos revealed for the Vita with Uncharted: Golden Abyss being a massive standout. Of particular importance was the US price revealed for the WiFi model which was $249.99. This is the same price that the 3DS costs in the US and the 3DS ended up costing $349.95AU. This hopefully means that Vita will follow the same pricing format and place it on even footing, price wise, with the Nintendo 3DS. The 3G & WiFi model was priced at $399.99US. Vid below showing the Vita’s capabilities and below that an Uncharted: Golden Abyss video…droolworthy 🙂

I managed to shift some EB store credit around and snagged the Zelda Collector’s Edition of the 3D remake of the Ocarina of Time for the 3DS which looks like this…
Ocarina of Time Ocarina Edition

To see the awesome celebrations that Nintendo are doing to celebrate Zelda’s 25th anniversary, check out part 1 of the Nintendo E3 conference available HERE.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is shaping up to be another sublime outing in the Uncharted canon, just check out the trailer below.

And lastly, just a great compilation video showcasing the games on Vita.

P.S. Anyone else think Uncharted’s Nathan Drake and Kevin Pereira from Attack of the Show share a striking similarity??

It’s uncanny!!

Nintendo E3 conference part 4

Part 4 is nothing but the Wii U and the exciting games in development that we can expect to see like Smash Bros., Batman Arkham City, Darksiders II, Tekken & Assassin’s Creed with some great video along the way. And with that, the conference came to an end, the only question that remains is…who won E3 2011?
